As a child I alreaddy knew I wanted to become a doctor. Understanding the human body and its diseases and being able to help people with that attracted me enormously. What made me enthusiastic about dermatology is the visual aspect. It is an art that often we can still make a diagnosis with the naked eye without complicated tests.

In addition, dermatology is very versatile with both medical and surgical aspects that affect patients of all ages. Everyone has one or more skin conditions in his life. The skin is often referred to as the mirror of the soul. The things we see on the skin can be reflections of what is going on in the body or soul. And vice versa, it is our shell that protects us from the outside world and especially the sun, which is of course so important here in Spain.

Skin diseases have a major impact on human life. This applies to patients with malignant melanoma, but also to patients with skin conditions that are very visible such as eczema, psoriasis or acne. Much research has been done on the relationship between skin and quality of life. People often really suffer from skin conditions and are often seriously hindered in their daily functioning. Unfortunately, this is often very underestimated by many people, including the government.

The pursuit of excellence in dermatology means that I want to apply my knowledge and skills as optimally as possible on a daily basis and therefore always want to improve by attending conferences, following courses and keeping up with professional literature, but also what I learn daily in practice during work with my patients. During my time at the University hospitals, I had the opportunity to do research and publish about skin diseases. Being able to better understand, diagnose or treat skin diseases continues to fascinate me.

Excellent care is based on special care for patients. For me it is very important that patients feel confident as if they were at home and not only understand their illness and how it can be treated, but also that they feel understood as people. Explaining well, accompanying and being accessible is essential.
